Biggest newspaper in Orlando

If you are trying to figure out what the biggest newspaper in Orlando is, then look no further than the Orlando Sentinel. At the moment, the Orlando Sentinel is considered the main newspaper of Orlando, Florida and is now pursuing its 131st year of operations as a newspaper. The Tribune Company owns the Orlando Sentinel. But despite its status as the biggest newspaper in Orlando, the newspaper and its parent company have been forced to cut back somewhat to stay in the black and thriving in the present demanding economic environment. The paper has lost some very valuable long-time employees (such as Florida Sports Hall of Famer Bill Buchalter and Aero-space news writer Michael Cabbage) due to this forced attrition. The cutbacks started in 2004 onwards.

Pulitzer Prize

In its 131 years of being published as an Orlando newspaper, the Orlando Sentinel has been able to win three Pulitzer Prizes already. The first Pulitzer Prize of the Orlando Sentinel was given out in 1988 under the Category of Editorial Writing due to different editorials written by Jane Healy. The second Pulitzer Prize was awarded to the Orlando Sentinel in 1993 due to investigative reporting conducted by Steve Berry and Jeff Brazil on the activities of a sheriff’s office drug squad. And the last Pulitzer Prize snared by the Orlando Sentinel is attributed to John C. Berlia for his editorial writing skills criticizing predatory lending activities that later brought about amendments of the area lending regulations. The newspaper has also outsourced customer service functions to a Philippine company.
